The Second Harvest Hero Truck Pull Challenge is a one-of-a-kind race that puts strength and teamwork to the test. Teams of 10 compete to pull a 20,000-pound delivery truck across Nathan Phillips Square in the fastest time, raising funds for Second Harvest’s food rescue and redistribution efforts.

The Daniels Corporation is proud to take part in the challenge to raise funds to help fight food insecurity and climate change. We need your help!

Did you know that $49 billion worth of surplus edible food goes to waste in Canada every year? This is enough food to effectively end the problem of food insecurity in our country. However, instead of providing nourishment, this food rots in landfills, emitting harmful greenhouse gases that damage the environment. While this food perishes, an overwhelming 6.9 million Canadians experience food insecurity on a regular basis.

That’s where Second Harvest comes in with its dual mission to grow an efficient food recovery network while reducing the negative environmental impact of avoidable food loss and waste. Since 1985, Second Harvest has worked across the supply chain to capture nutritious, surplus food before it ends up in landfills and redistribute it to a network of over 3,700 non-profit and social service agencies to feed people in need.

For every dollar raised, Second Harvest can provide more than two healthy meals for people experiencing food insecurity in your community. Our team goal is to raise a minimum of $2,500, which will provide over 4,000 meals to those in need!

Join us in the fight against food insecurity and climate change by donating to help Second Harvest rescue fresh, surplus food and feed Canadians in need.
