Let’s fight food waste and food insecurity together
Forty-nine billion dollars of good surplus food goes to waste in Canada every single year, polluting the environment and pushing nutrition further out of reach for so many people. In fact, 6.9 million Canadians experience food insecurity in their daily lives. These are shocking numbers and they’ve inspired me to fundraise for Second Harvest.
As Canada’s largest food rescue organization, Second Harvest rescues food from being wasted all across the supply chain and redistributes it to non-profits supporting Canadians struggling to put food on the table. In 2023, Second Harvest rescued and redistributed over 74.4 million pounds of food to more than 14,000 non-profit programs.
